Another Cold

Noah has another cold. The bad news is that this is cold number five since he started at daycare. The good news is that he's building his immune system and he should be a healthy child when he goes to school. Even though we know it's good for Noah to build immunity, we hate to see him sick again. Yesterday his nose started running all over the place and it hasn't stopped since. He also has one ear that is waxier than the other so we're watching for signs of an ear infection. But, he doesn't have a fever and he isn't acting like he doesn't feel well. Well, he wasn't acting like he wasn't feeling well until last night when he decided he could not sleep in his own bed. We could get him to sleep, lay him in his bed and carefully sneak away while making sure that he was still asleep. But in only about 10 to 15 minutes, he would be screaming and need the comfort of Mom or Dad in order to calm down. Calming himself was not an option. Typically, Noah can self-soothe. He just sticks his thumb in his mouth and goes to town. But not last night. Last night, Noah needed his parents. So there we were thinking to ourselves again... "eventually he'll sleep better. Everyone tells us that it gets better. We just have to wait a little longer." We see the doctor on Tuesday next week and we're looking forward to it. Maybe rice cereal will be the solution to all of our sleeping problems. (And kicking this cold, of course).

First Sick Baby Visit to the Doctor

Noah had to visit the doctor Monday morning because he has developed a rash. Well it turns out that the rash is nothing much to worry about, but being the careful forthright parents that we are we called daycare today to see if he could still attend with his rash. Noah doesn't have a fever and the rash is only on his tummy and resembled the heat rash I used to get when I played soccer in too much heat. Of course, daycare, being the cautious and contentious people that they are, said nope Noah can't attend until he's seen the doctor and he has a note that says he is not contagious. So we went to the doctor this morning. We called at 7:30 and fortunately, they were able to work us in for an appointment at 8:20. And guess what Noah had... prickly heat or ... (wait for it...........) heat rash! Mom was right. Since heat rash is not contagious, we were cleared for admittance to daycare.

We're treating Noah's rash with 1% hydrocortisone cream. It should be gone within the next few days. Nothing to worry about... just like I thought.

Give Mommy a Kiss

Noah has started showing his affection in new ways. We got a kick out of his latest and we hope you will too.

Humoring Mom for an Easter Photo Shoot

Noah's put up with having quite a number of photographs taken of him lately. For the most part, he's been very patient with his mother as she stages him and flashes the bright light in his face again and again. He'll play along for a while, but when he's had enough he definitely lets me know. We've been trying to get the perfect picture for Noah's first Easter. I think we're close...

Here are several of the favorites.

Play Date with Henry

Last weekend, Noah had a play date with his friend Henry. Noah and Henry med a few months ago, but both of them slept through much of their first play date. This time, both babies spent much of the time awake. They enjoyed the action and busy-ness at the Como Conservatory where we met and took candid photos... and they enjoyed staring at one another after we headed back to our house for lunch. Noah and Henry's parents also enjoyed the play date and the good conversation with one another about all the topics with which we feel we're boring our other friends because they don't yet have children. There's something great about sharing experiences with people who are experiencing many of the same things. In fact, we enjoyed the conversation so much that the time flew by and before we knew it, it was time for Henry, Steve and Stephanie to go home. We're looking forward to our next play date (yet to be scheduled). Hopefully next time we can spend some time out of doors with the little ones.

Baby Squawks

On Friday, Noah started squawking like a bird. It's clear that he has now found his voice. He's still do some airy cooing for us, but when he's really talkative he makes new noises that are similar to a squawking bird. We captured one of Noah's stories on video this weekend. Enjoy!

More Fun with the Fairy Godmother

Fairy Godmother Ann was here again last week and Noah was living it up! He was very happy to have 5 days to spend with his Fairy Godmother. Friday night we picked Ann up from the airport and had a nice dinner with Grandma Barb at her house. Saturday, we went to Como Zoo and Conservatory then finished the day off with a long stroll along Grand Avenue and pizza dinner. Noah got to hear a tiger roar for the first time, but who knows if he actually heard it because he was sleeping away in his stroller. Sunday, we all packed up and went to visit Grandpa. We had a nice time chatting and watching Noah smile. Monday, Noah was rescued from daycare by Grandma Barb and Ann. We had lunch together then Noah, Barb and Ann walked around the mall for the afternoon. Unfortunately, the weather wasn't nice enough to walk outside. Of course, Noah was spoiled with cute new clothes courtesy of the afternoon adventure. Tuesday, we had a bunch of friends over for dinner to say goodbye to Ann. It was a whirlwind of a long weekend.

We enjoy every moment we can spend with Ann. She's been a great Godmother to me and she is a Great Godmother for Noah.

Here's a picture from the weekend.
Of course this is not Ann, but Grandma Barb with Noah. My camera found Ann elusive this trip. Hopefully someone else caught her on film. If so, I'll post photos of her as soon as I can.
