Big Achievements!!!

Noah has had two big achievements lately that we are very excited to share with everyone. On Wednesday, May 13th Noah started to sit up on his own. He can't yet pull himself up to a sitting position, but he can now sit for more than 30 minutes to play with toys and talk with his friends. We had been working with Noah over the previous few weeks to help him build the muscles and stability he needed to sit on his own. We would sit on the floor with him in front of us (slightly leaning on us) and let him play with his toys. He built up those stabilizing muscles faster than we expected because when we arrived to pick him up at daycare on Wednesday he was sitting up playing with several of his friends. Noah loves to sit now. He loves to be sitting upright so much that he gets slightly angry when we lay him down on the floor to play.

Here are a couple of photos showing off Noah's new favorite activity... sitting up to play with his toys.

Noah's other big achievement happened today. He has mastered rolling over from his tummy to his back. Over the course of the evening, while Mom and Noah were playing Noah rolled over 4 times from his tummy to his back. The first one was the ultimate slow-motion roll over. He got his upper half rolled over, while his legs took quite some time to follow. Eric was bummed when I told him what he had missed, so we decided to try it again to make sure it wasn't a fluke. Of course when I put him back on his tummy he didn't roll so Eric headed back downstairs to grab something. Again, while I was talking to Noah and singing songs he rolled over onto his back. Eric had missed it again. When he returned, we tried again. This time Eric and I talked about Bailey and when Noah thought we weren't paying enough attention to him, he rolled over. Of course we reinforced how great this achievement was by stopping our conversation and cheering for him. Noah of course soaked up all the kisses and attention. We tried one more time to capture the moment on video. (The video is not ready tonight and I'm yawning as I type so you'll just have to wait a day or two until I can get it ready for post.)

I'll end this post with several new favorite photos of the little guy. Enjoy!
