Volcanous Poopaloopus

Tonight we had a poop eruption out of Noah's diaper while he was playing and we were eating dinner. We had been expecting a blow out pretty soon because Noah's been having a little trouble with the plumbing since he started on solids. He was backed up all weekend, but gave me a nice full diaper on Monday morning before we headed to work. We even started him on prunes yesterday to get things moving. From the looks of things tonight, it worked. Noah had quite a bit stored up in that little tummy of his.

We sat Noah down on the floor with a bunch of his toys and we started eating dinner. After a little while, Eric said "Jenny look at Noah's back." There was no warning. Noah didn't make any faces or grunts. It was silent but deadly. Noah's onesie was bubbled out from his back just above the waistband of his pants. The bubble was starting to turn that tell-tale yellow color. I pulled the back of his collar out and peered down to see what we'd be dealing with. Oh my goodness! I could not believe my eyes. Noah must have pooped with such force that the poop was propelled up out of his pants and was pooling at his lower back just above the waistband. "This is going to be a two-person job," I told Eric.

We rushed Noah downstairs to the changing table. We had no idea where to start. While Eric held Noah standing up, I pulled off his pants. We rescued them before they get hit. Then we unsnapped his onesie and attempted to take it off of him (also while Eric held him up). It must have been quite the sight. I think we did an adequate job of keeping the poop from spreading, but even so it ended up all over Noah and the changing table cover. We took the diaper off and began cleaning him up before we laid Noah down to finish the clean-up job. We decided that even after using about 10-15 wipes Noah was in absolute need of a bath.

It was quite the exciting time. We got Noah all cleaned up, bathed and changed, then back to playing so we could finish dinner. Hopefully Noah is feeling a lot better now. If he gets backed up again... we know one thing, the prunes work!
