We celebrated Eric's first Father's Day today. Well, we intended to do so anyway. We had great plans to take a bike ride with the Burley and have a grill out/picnic in the park, but the weather did not look like it was going to cooperate. Instead we reversed course and decided to try to teach Noah to sleep. We thought that one of the nicest Father's Day gifts Noah could give his daddy would be to sleep through the night in his own crib. Since we can't bear to listen to Noah cry in the evening when we're trying to get ready for bed, we decided to let him cry before his naps today. He cried for an hour before his noon nap today, then slept only 20 minutes. He went down for a nap again at 3 and cried for about 15 minutes, then slept for a half hour. That wasn't enough sleep though because Eric got him when he woke and they sat for only about 10 minutes before Noah was falling asleep again. This time we put him in the swing because we knew he needed to sleep well. When Noah doesn't nap well during the day, he sleeps even worse at night. The nap in the swing was more self preservation than anything. Hopefully tonight he'll sleep well in his crib.
We've decided to move our grill out to the back yard tonight because it looks like rain. We're having steak, rice, beans, mushroom sauce and mango. Yummy! I like Father's Day, its a cause for good food. We'll let you know how it all turns out...
